Kayaking in the Keys

Chris and I like kayaking and we really should try it closer to home. Until last week, we hadn't kayaked since 2004.

We booked the nature kayak tour in Key West, our first port of call last week. One of the guides picked up this starfish and passed it around. It was dunked in the water before each handoff.
This isn't the best picture but I am holding a sea cucumber. It is the grossest thing I have ever touched.

We would have prefered a kayak trip that involved longer stretches of kayaking. We stopped often to look at the wildlife. When we did get to kayak for a several minutes at a time, I kept hearing Jillian saying, "This is how we get those nice groves across the tops of the shoulders." Ha ha. She says that about shadow boxing with hand weights.
At the end of the tour we went through a mangrove "tunnel". We couldn't really paddle through it so we pulled ourselves through by the branches.
I probably liked this tour more than Chris did. I liked learning about the eco system in the keys (reminded me of those couple of ecology classes that I took) but I was hoping for a harder upper body workout.

Renee, when I go on vacation I want to do nothing. I admire your zest for life all the while maintaining physical fitness:)
