Tenth Anniversary

Last Friday was our tenth anniversary. It was a sea day on the ship, meaning there was no port of call. The ship traveled from Belize back to Fort Lauderdale. We had breakfast and then worked out. I actually ran two miles on the treadmill. There must be something about the ocean view that inspired me to run. I cleaned off our treadmill one morning but I have yet to use it this week (I did the elliptical machine and a workout video).

We hung out by the pool for a few hours and I read a book while Chris read magazines. We both would rather be doing something that just lounging by the pool so sea days aren't always our favorites. I was really missing the kids and longing to call and check in my MIL. I should have just called.

That night we had dinner at Chops, the specialty restaurant. It is an additional $25 charge per person but we both felt like it was well worth it. The service was great. We had two servers . They seemed to be helping each other and it didn't really seem like one was the lead server. They were both great.

A nice bonus was seeing dolphins (or were they porpoises?) swimming beside the ship. We saw a lot of them but it was hard to catch them on video with our little point and shoot camera.

All the appetizers at Chops looked great. We each tried one, Chris had the soup, and we both had salads. Then we had fabulous steaks! We didn't finish them because we had already indulged in too much bread and yummy roasted red pepper spread. We also shared two side dishes that we barely touched.

Don't I look stuffed? We each ordered dessert and then our servers brought out a third dessert and sang Happy Anniversary to us. It is a small restaurant and most of the other guests joined in the singing. After finishing at Chops we went to the main dining room. Not because we needed anything else to eat but because we wanted to see our tablemates. They were just starting to get there food when we got there. It was fun hanging out and talking with them one last time.

When everyone else's dessert came one of the guys just kept eating lobster.
Our server, her assistant, and the head waiter brought us a dessert and sang Happy Anniversary to us. So, we had a little more dessert.

Here we are with our server. She memorized everyone's name the first night. Hearing her say all the names every time she came to the table helped us remember them also.
All too soon, the cruise was over and we were off the ship, in the cab, and at the airport. We paid a fee to take an earlier flight (great deal for the airline since the earlier flight was only 1/3 full) and headed to SC. Our plane flew over the Enchantment of the Seas and I missed a perfect photo opportunity. Here is a shot looking back at the ship.

The kids acted like they were glad to see us but I don't think they missed us very much. They had a great time.
